MCRCC is an active participant in the legislation process, helping businesses take a dynamic role in our governing process. The Legislative Affairs Committee works hard on behalf of the membership to monitor developing issues and serve as an influential voice to political organizations. Developments regarding progress on many issues that affect your business are always posted in the monthly mailer.
On your behalf, our team efforts helped to make New Jersey State Senate Bill 848 a reality. The new law now provides tax relief to small business owners in New Jersey by eliminating the corporate business tax on the regular income of S-corporations. MCRCC also took a stand so that exempt non-profit community associations, like those made up of mostly senior citizens, would be exempt from sales and use tax on services such as trash collection, for which a municipality is required to reimburse an association under the municipal services law.
The committee also targets issues on health care, plans an annual economic forecast designed to give local business leaders an outlook for the coming year, and holds a "Meet Your Legislator" program to encourage business leaders to discuss important strategic issues facing the community. We want to stimulate your interests, build relationships and help you achieve success.
The chamber is the place where legislative leaders and business meet.
