The Business Advantage

Middlessex County's ideal crossroads location centrally located between Boston and Washington, New York and Philadelphia has provided businesses the opportunity to service their regional and national markets. The Board of Chosen Freeholders through a low County tax rate has fostered this healthy business climate. This has provided the opportunity for over 20,000 businesses to blossom in the hospitable borders of the County's 25 municipalities.

Educational Commitment

It is necessary to provide an adequate labor pool for businesses to operate. Middlesex County has provided these resources through the five County Vocational-Technical schools and Middlesex County College. These efforts will continue with the new 24 million dollar Vocational and Technical High School in Perth Amboy and the new Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies on the campus of the County College. These advancements will keep Middlesex County in the forefront in this new millennium.

Middlesex County has developed into a community with a great deal of economic strength and wealth. Working together will ensure that Middlesex County continues to grow and improve and offer a good place to live and a good place to do business. County government will continue to work to maintain and enhance an environment in which the citizens of Middlesex County can enjoy both attractive neighborhoods and a strong economic base.

Recreational Opportunities

Middlesex County presently operates 19 county parks, encompassing 7,020 acres. Thirteen of these locations contain active recreational facilities, five are conservation areas or are being held for future development. The County is in the process of acquiring 7,000 acres of open space through the Open Space Trust Fund, and is developing new active parks throughout the County. The Raritan Bay Waterfront Park, located in Sayreville and South Amboy, and Fords Park in Woodbridge are the newest additions to the system. Middlesex County also operates three golfing facilities; the 36 hole Tamarack Golf Course in East Brunswick, Middlesex Meadows in Plainsboro, and the Raritan Landing Golf Course in Piscataway.

The continued acquisition of open space and development of parklands will ensure the same high quality of life for future generations.
